Linda, 8 years old, is a powerhouse of intelligence, determination, sweetness, and a passion for dance. Despite physical disabilities and challenges in verbal communication, she constantly desires to dance everywhere – on the streets, in stores, and at home.
Her favorite afternoon of the week unfolds at Arcadia Dance Studio, where she lights up in the presence of the rest of the team. Krystle, the instructor and educator specializing in inclusion, takes the lead, accompanied by the almost intentionally invisible tutor, Asmaa. Behind the scenes is Linda’s mother, a woman who has fought every possible battle in favor of her daughter for the past eight years
The training is a pure delight for the eyes, ears, and heart: 17 unified children get emotional as classical music sets the stage for games and initial choreography. No one is left behind, ever. An hour of shared happiness, where everything seems natural and effortless.
So, what’s the big story?
Three years ago, Linda couldn’t walk. In these three years, she has practiced so much that she can now stand, discard her knee braces, and keep up with her dance companions, almost without the need for a tutor.
In June 2023, she graced the stage of a theater for the first time, and from now on, she’ll step onto many more. Almost no one would have bet on her, but she did it, and the credit goes to her alone… and to the team that supports her with love and expertise, quietly making a difference.
Linda is one of the beneficiaries of the Sport for All program by the Fondazione Milan, which, along with All Inclusive Sport, supports the sports practice of young people with disabilities. Join the team and support Sport for All!
