“Fondazione Milan has always stood out for the quality of its initiatives and the support that their projects give to the people who need help. The presence of AC Milan legends who have made the history of football and who have inspired millions of sportsmen and fans with their behaviour, makes us even prouder to be part of this initiative. We are here today to spread a message of hope and peace in the name of sport.” Ronni Hartvig – Chief Commercial Officer Betsson Group
“We have been looking for a way to contribute to the great work done by Fondazione Milan both in Italy and across the world. We wanted to do it in our own way – the way of those who live sports genuinely every day and that through exclusive contents and experiences bring people closer to football and fans closer to their idols. We are proud to support Sheva, the Foundation and the Club on such a special day. It is evident that the values of those who made the history of this sport in the past can also shape its future.” Stefano Tino – Managing Director StarCasinò Sport
The funds raised during the tournament will go towards Fondazione Milan’s overall donation to the project to rebuild the Central City Stadium in Irpin, as announced by Shevchenko himself during his visit to Casa Milan.
The initiative, donations to which can still be made via donate.fondazionemilan.org/ucraina, is the latest in a long line of projects undertaken by AC Milan and Fondazione Milan in order to support the Ukrainian populace affected by the war.
Fundraising began with the release of the Special Edition shirt – Manchester 2003 for Ukraine. The project has seen various subsequent initiatives, such as the secure donation channel to the Italian Red Cross, a collection of basic necessities at the Milan House and PUMA House of Football and Milanello Sports Centres, and, finally, various charity auctions. In addition, together with the Municipality of Milan, Fondazione Milan supported the creation of a telephone hotline in the Ukrainian language in order to foster the integration of refugee families in the Lombard capital. In the summer, the ‘Special Camp Ukraine Emergency‘ was launched, in which the AC Milan Academy and Fondazione Milan welcomed children from conflict-struck areas to several Italian locations for Milan Junior Camp, giving them a special experience, under the banner of play and fun.
