AC Milan Glorie will proudly represent the Rossoneri in the Beckenbauer Cup – a one-off legends tournament paying tribute to Franz Beckenbauer, FC Bayern’s late Honorary President. The tournament will take place on 17 March 2025 at the SAP Garden in Munich, with all proceeds going to the Franz Beckenbauer Foundation.
The Beckenbauer Cup will bring together legendary squads from some of the greatest clubs in world football, including AC Milan, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart, and FC Bayern. The unique small-sided indoor football format will showcase football artistry and celebrate the enduring legacies of these iconic teams and players.
AC Milan Glorie, featuring a host of former Rossoneri stars, will take the field to represent the Club’s illustrious history and rich tradition in global football. This participation underscores AC Milan’s dedication to celebrating football legends and connecting with fans worldwide through unique initiatives. AC Milan Glorie’s participation in the tournament will also serve as a further demonstration of the Rossoneri family’s continued commitment to addressing important social issues. Jerseys worn by AC Milan Glorie during the tournament will in fact be auctioned, with all proceeds donated by Fondazione Milan to support its international Sport for Change program. This initiative uses sport as a tool for social inclusion, personal growth, and positive change, benefiting many young people living in vulnerable social environments worldwide.
The matches will be played on 17 March from 6.30pm in two groups on artificial turf. Each match will last 10 minutes (two six-minute halves from the semi-finals onwards). The top two from each group will reach the semi-finals. The losers will meet in a match for third place and the winners will contest the final for the Beckenbauer Cup. As a special rule, attacking time is limited in the last minute of the game, similar to basketball, to prevent the score from simply being managed until the final whistle.
The Beckenbauer Cup is set to be an unforgettable celebration of football heritage, camaraderie, and the extraordinary influence of Franz Beckenbauer.
