A special event, in partnership with PUMA, before the New York match
New York, NY, July 27, 2024 – AC Milan and Manchester City held a dedicated community event at Sofive Meadowlands, New Jersey, on the eve of the eagerly awaited Pre-Season Tour match between the two clubs this Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
The event is part of the broader initiative launched by the clubs, called “City and Milan for Change,” which will see AC Milan and City contribute to the local community through a series of activities planned on the sidelines of the match.
Children from the Success Academy Charter Schools program-actively supported by Milan Foundation since 2021-and City In The Community’s (CITC) Soccerbloc program on Staten Island were invited to the Sofive Meadowlands to participate in a training session dedicated to the local community, with coaches from the two clubs.
In addition to the training, the children in attendance had a surprise meeting with Franco Baresi, Honorary Vice President, and Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ambassador of Manchester City.
During the game scheduled for this evening, fans may be given additional activities to support the initiative.
As the Official Partner of Manchester City and AC Milan, PUMA supported the initiative, donating kits and footwear from the two clubs to participating children.
In addition to today’s activity, City and PUMA unveiled the club’s Third kit this morning, while the Rossoneri’s Away kit will be released on Sunday.
Franco Baresi, Honorary Vice President of AC Milan, said, “Stimulating the development of the soccer industry globally is at the core of Milan’s philosophy. Today’s event with Manchester City at the Sofive Meadowlands was a fantastic opportunity to thank and inspire young boys who are passionate about soccer in the New York area. Initiatives like ‘City and Milan for Change’ highlight the unifying power of soccer and bind communities together around the world.
We are thrilled to collaborate with Manchester City and our partner PUMA on this project and look forward to revealing a special surprise at this weekend’s game, celebrating our shared love of soccer and commitment to positive community impact.”
Shaun Wright-Phillips, Manchester City Club Ambassador, commented, “Community is at the heart of everything Manchester City does as a club, whether it is our local community in Manchester or those further afield when we travel around the world. For us, this partnership with AC Milan is another unique opportunity for us to engage and thank the local community and our fans, improving lives through soccer.
It was great to work together to organize the event and participate today. We are excited to reveal a special surprise during this weekend’s game and hope that our fans, at the stadium and around the world, will appreciate the moment ”.
