Milan, October 27, 2023 – Fondazione Milan’s 2022-2023 season has been a triumph of activities dedicated to promoting sports and its values, especially for vulnerable youth, with the goal of providing these young individuals with the opportunity to develop their talents.
One of the key programs was Sport for Change, designed for young people at risk of social marginalization. This program was implemented in four areas in Milan, engaging 100 young beneficiaries. Furthermore, it extended nationally through “Play for the Future,” reaching cities like Bari, Catania, Napoli, and Palermo, with the aim of improving the reintegration paths for young people involved in the criminal justice system. This vital project involved collaboration between Fondazione Milan, the Ministry of Justice, and the Fondazione Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.
However, the impact of Sport for Change went beyond Italy. It spread its wings internationally, reaching new regions like Kerala in India, and maintained a strong presence in six other nations, including Kenya, Uganda, Brazil, and the United States. Fondazione Milan worked tirelessly in these areas to bring joy and hope to young people in disadvantaged communities, with a special focus on female empowerment in Kenya, Uganda, and India.
Another noteworthy program that defined Fondazione Milan’s presence in Italy was Sport for All. This year, the program involved six cities in Italy, promoting sports inclusion for young people with disabilities. The opportunity to play alongside their peers brought joy, unity, and discovery to the beneficiaries in cities like Ascoli Piceno, Milan, Napoli, Padova, Reggio Emilia, and Roma.
Fundraising and partnerships played a crucial role in supporting the season’s activities. Thanks to the invaluable support of AC Milan partners, a series of initiatives were carried out under the Assist program, with a special focus on Milan’s outskirts, where economic hardships and educational poverty were prevalent.
This season marked a significant milestone: Fondazione Milan celebrated its 20th anniversary with a Charity Dinner that raised over €300,000, thanks to the participation of the First Team and AC Milan’s partners.
In a symbolic gesture, Fondazione Milan’s logo appeared on the back of AC Milan jerseys in all UEFA Champions League matches, serving as a reminder of the numerous projects completed in these twenty years of operation. Furthermore, for the first time in history, Fondazione Milan took on the role of Match Charity Partner in a Serie A match (Milan-Cremonese on May 3, 2023).
The impact of the 2022-2023 season speaks for itself:
Fondazione Milan has once again demonstrated its commitment to positive change through sports. Its mission continues to inspire and spread globally, with President Paolo Scaroni delivering a powerful message at the Change the World – Model United Nations on March 24, 2023, at the United Nations Glass Palace in New York.
Fondazione Milan can take pride in a season of enduring success and impact, as it prepares to continue making a difference in the lives of young people worldwide.
